Approximately 1.3 million Kaiser Permanente members experience food insecurity. Compounding this, California has one of the lowest rates of SNAP participation in the country, with nearly $2 billion in food benefits that are unclaimed each year. In August 2019, Kaiser partnered with HealthCrowd to initiate an omnichannel outreach campaign to bridge the gap between members and CalFresh. The campaign leveraged text messages, emails and live phone assistance to encourage members to check their eligibility and apply for CalFresh - all in as little as 10 minutes!
