A fundamental transformation is happening in healthcare communications as innovative products and platforms emerge daily, changing the way people discover information and connect with brands, companies, and one another. Marketing and communications executives are presented with exciting opportunities and new challenges in realizing the promise of these innovations to engage stakeholders in new ways and support the dialogue between patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

In this 90-minute series of panel discussions, hosted by GCI Health in partnership with Fierce Pharma, experts, academics, and innovators across healthcare will share how, as communicators, we can:

  • Leverage mobile tools and emerging platforms to deliver credible health information to new audiences
  • Bridge the gaps that exist between emerging digital innovation and hard-to-reach patient communities
  • Engage patients through emotional marketing and communications to drive further adoption of emerging technologies and care delivery

SESSIONS:

Session #1: The Future of Public Health Communications | 11:30 - 12:00 EST
Moderator: Matt Graffeo, Group SVP, Digital Lead

Description: While social platforms have allowed us to connect with a broader range of people on important public health issues, they have also become a breeding ground for misinformation. From political resistance against scientific innovation to lack of health literacy, the challenges of reaching the public with important health information have never been greater. During this session, we’ll draw on the lessons and knowledge of experts to address how communicators are enabling informed scientific discussions on social platforms.

Session #2: Connecting Empathy with Connected Care | 12:00 - 12:30 EST
Moderator: Edie DeVine, EVP, Global Medical & Health Technology Lead

Description: Technology has paved the road that will allow us to deliver care to “medically underserved” communities and people with limited mobility due to pain, age or illness. While the virtual at-home doctor’s visit has benefits for health, the loss of face-to-face interaction remains a challenge for administering care. We’ll talk with people on the frontlines of connected care and the future of digital health about engaging patients through emotional marketing and communications to drive further adoption of emerging technologies and care delivery.

However, there are still challenges in effectively using technology to create equitable health care and treatment experiences. In this session, we’ll discuss what needs to be true to bridge the gap between the platforms, the tools and the people who use them and best practices for co-creating public health campaigns that reflect cultural competence, awareness and the lived experience of the communities we need to engage.
