Terry Smith

Terry Smith serves as Vice President of Engineering for Marriott International. In this role, Terry oversees a team of engineers responsible for design and construction of all global new build and conversion projects in the Marriott portfolio. Mr. Smith is responsible for developing, maintaining, and producing Global Engineering Design Standards for all 30 Marriott Brands. Terry also serves as a technical resource for operating hotels.

With more than 40 years of industry experience, Mr. Smith has a strong background in building systems, efficient facilities design and construction, cost analysis and controls of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for new and existing projects. An associate of Marriott International for thirty years, Mr. Smith has proven effective in Owner relations, communication, and negotiation. He is an industrious and reliable asset to Marriott International. Terry graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Carl Hren

Senior Vice President
Concord Hospitality

Carl joined Concord Hospitality in 2013 and brings a wealth of construction experience having managed both ground up and renovation projects across the country. Carl worked for White Lodging as director of construction for seven years where he was honored as the 2009 Investments and Development Leader of the Year. Having worked on both the general contractor-side and the ownership-side of project management, he is an invaluable asset to the Concord team. Carl graduated with a bachelor’s degree, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Lewis G. Harriman III

Lew Harriman retired from Mason-Grant Consulting in Portsmouth, NH, where he served as the Director of Research for 33 years. He is a Fellow, Life Member and Distinguished Lecturer of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). In 2018 Lew was inducted into the Indoor Air Quality Hall of Fame. Since January 2020, he has served as a volunteer consultant to ASHRAE’s COVID-19 Epidemic Task Force.
