Next-Gen IoT Networks: Which Ones Will Live and Which Ones Will Die?

September 7, 2016 | 7:00AM - 8:45AM | Sands Expo - Palazzo CD

The Internet of Things is quickly moving from hype to reality. As a result, vendors and operators are racing to pounce on the opportunity. The result is a surplus of network technologies vying to connect the billions of IoT devices expected in the years ahead.

Which networks will succeed in this new IoT arena—and which will fail? The network options range from EC-GSM to NB-IoT to LTE CAT M to Sigfox to LoRa to Wi-Fi HaLow to RPMA… and the list goes on. The glut is such that experts predict at least one of these major technologies will be effectively “rendered redundant” this year.

Join FierceWireless for a no-holds-barred executive roundtable discussion to delve into networks powering the IoT space, looking at the options presented both by top wireless carriers as well as the startups hoping to break into the market with their own unique network solutions.

Schedule of Events:

An Inside Look at Building and Deploying 5G

September 8, 2016 | 7:00AM - 8:45AM | Sands Expo - Palazzo CD

Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and carriers across the globe are testing 5G network technology this year. Some hope to commercially deploy 5G as early as next year.

The deployment of 5G will involve a sea of moving parts. Operators will need to upgrade everything from their core networks to their base stations and antennas to their handsets -- and everything in between. Vendors and carriers will need to densify cell sites, deploy small cells, move into unlicensed spectrum, employ network virtualization, utilize network slicing, adopt massive MIMO, expand into millimeter wave spectrum -- and more -- to reach the low latency, 1 Gbps promise of 5G.

But what exactly will those deployments look like? How will carriers and vendors organize and prioritize their buildouts to make the most of their already-stretched finances? Which technologies and techniques will be deployed first, and which will take a backseat? And what elements of 5G will pull the most money out of carriers’ capex budgets? This no-holds-barred executive roundtable discussion will provide an inside look at the strategies and technologies that will go into the construction and deployment of 5G wireless networks.

Schedule of Events:

7:00AM – 7:30AM – Registration, Networking & Breakfast Buffet

7:30AM – 7:40AM – Opening Speakers

7:40AM – 8:40AM – Panel Presentation
